Avocado body oil is a form of oil that is derived from the fresh pulp of the avocado fruit with the botanical name Persea armenica.

Avocado oil is olive green in colour and rich in vitamins A, C, E and B6, proteins, lecithin, beta-carotene, folic acid and some minerals like magnesium, copper and iron.

Avocado body oil is a wonderful carrier oil which helps in regenerating and softening the skin when used in aromatherapy.

It is estimated that avocados have been cultivated since 500 BC in Central America and they were referred to as the “King’s Butter”.

What does avocado oil smell like?

Base oils do not have a strong aroma like essential oils do, and their scents are much more subdued.

Which part of the plant provides the oil?

The fruit.

Where has avocado oil been sourced from?

This particular avocado oil originates from Spain.

How is avocado oil extracted?

The oil is extracted by cold pressing the fruit of the avocado.

What other oils blend well with avocado oil?

Avocado oil blends well with other carrier oils and may be used for diluting pure essential oils.

How can I benefit from avocado oil?

Avocado body oil is very rich in nutrients.

This base oil is useful for ageing, mature and damaged skin, eczema and soothing to use on nappy rash.

Avocado oil is also nourishing to the hair due to its texture, the oil easily soaks into the scalp and its use for hair care can help deal with a number of hair related problems like dandruff, hair fall and thinning hair.

To use the oil for hair care, you can prepare hair masks, home-made shampoos or conditioners and then use them to massage into the scalp.

Avocado oil can be used to moisturise and nourish the skin also as it is high in sterolins which are known to reduce some skin inflammations like sunburn and scars, leaving the skin smooth.

This base oil is easily absorbed into deep tissue which aids in regeneration and rejuvenation of the skin, making it a good choice for people with dry or itching skin.

You can apply avocado body oil directly into the skin through a body massage or use products that contain the oil, like lotions and soaps.

Avocado oil can be used to help reduce wrinkles and premature ageing of the skin because it contains antioxidant agents that boost stimulation of collagen in the skin.

This also helps to increase the strength of the skin and its elasticity.

You can also apply the oil to minor cuts and bruises to help accelerate the healing process.
