Emu Body Oil

Dromaius novaehollandiae

Emu body oil comes from the fat found at the back of the emu and it contains around 70% of unsaturated fatty acids.

The emu is a bird commonly found in Australia with the botanical name Dromaius novaehollandiae.

Pure emu oil contains linoleic acid, oleic acid, vitamin A, sapogens and vitamin E among others.

The oil has been used for thousands of years owing to its renowned healing, moisturising and pain relieving powers. It is non-toxic and highly penetrating.

What does emu oil smell like?

Emu oil has a very faint scent. Carrier oils do not have a strong aroma like essential oils do, and their scents are much more subdued.

Which part of the emu provides the oil?

The fat.

Where has emu oil been sourced from?

This particular emu oil originates from Australia.

How is emu oil extracted?

At the time the emu is processed for its meat, feathers and leather for various industries, the oil for its therapeutic benefits is extracted by removing the fat of the emu where it goes through a refining process.

What other oils blend well with emu oil?

Emu body oil is quite a rich oil, which provides intense lubrication. Due to the thickness of this base oil it can be blended with other carrier oils for aromatherapy preparations and for diluting pure essential oils.

How can I benefit from emu oil?

Emu body oil contains sapogens which act as skin softeners, vitamin A which is an established skin repairer and antioxidant, vitamin E which acts as a healing agent, and oleic acid which acts as an anti-wrinkle agent and skin cell regenerator.

All this helps to restore, safeguard and maintain the appearance and feel of the skin.

The oil penetrates rapidly into the skin and does not leave any oily film which makes it a very superior carrier oil.

Emu oil may also be used for aches and pains, to soothe or heal sore backs, joints and muscles because it has anti-inflammatory and pain relief agents.

The oil is also used as a natural remedy for leg cramps because it penetrates into the skin quickly and deeply and is widely used by many health professionals around the world.

You can also use emu oil for neck, shoulder and knee pains and swellings, for inflammations including arthritis and tendinitis and it may reduce discomfort from injuries.

Emu body oil may also promote healing owing to its anti-inflammatory and cell regeneration properties.

You can also use the oil to help reduce skin rashes, acne, lessen scarring and for treating athlete’s foot.

100% Emu oil.
