Lena’s Evening Skincare Ritual for Dry, Tired Skin
At the end of the day, your skin can feel dry and tired. Sometimes, a little extra nourishment is all it needs.
Here is a simple evening skincare ritual I like to recommend.
Step 1: Give your skin a gentle cleanse
Take a little of your usual face wash and mix it in the palms of your hands with some grapeseed oil, argan oil or another unrefined carrier oil of your preference. Gently massage the mixture into the skin of your face. Wash it off with lukewarm water or wipe it away with a soft, damp cloth. Enjoy the feeling of freshly cleansed skin. This is a technique I like to use, but not every facial cleanser is designed to be mixed with oil. Start with a small amount and see how your skin responds.Step 2: Add a little extra nourishment before bed
Add a few drops of rosehip or avocado oil to your usual night cream. Mix them together in your palms and gently massage into your skin. Your skin may feel refreshed and nourished. I always say that the amount of cream and oil you put on your skin depends on the needs of your skin. Start with a few drops and see what happens. You might need a little more, or nothing extra at all. If there is excess oil remaining on your face before going to bed, gently blot it away with a soft tissue.Less is more
This is something I often say when it comes to skincare. Your skin’s needs can change from day to day. Pay attention to how it feels rather than following the same routine regardless. Natural carrier oils contain valuable skin-conditioning components, but you don’t need large amounts to benefit from them. Choose oils that suit your skin, avoid the eye area and discontinue anything that causes irritation. If you have sensitive skin, test a small area first. Less is more.
