Evening Primrose is a tall plant that blooms only in the evening. The North American Indian people first recognised its healing potential and made infusions for healing wounds.

Evening primrose oil is rich in fatty acids, in particular, GLA. It affects much of the enzyme activity in the body. Every process that takes place in the body is triggered by the actions of the various enzymes such as prostaglandins. These substances regulate bodily functions such as:

  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Inhibiting thrombosis
  • Inhibiting cholesterol
  • Inhibiting inflammation
  • Regulating menstrual cycle

The production of prostaglandins is impossible without linoleic essential fatty acid which is found in cold pressed oils. Linoleic acid is converted into GLA, then to DGLA and arachadonic acid, both are present in all cell structures. That is why Evening primrose oil is beneficial.
