Helichrysum Essential Oil

Helichrysum italicum

Helichrysum is native to the Mediterranean region and North Africa. It is also cultivated in countries such as India and made into a beautiful  Helichrysum essential oil.

Although the crop is Mediterranean in origin, the Indian coastline conditions are similar and it lends itself well to the soil there.

This helichrysum oil is extracted from the plant Helichrysum italicum, and is commonly known by the name everlasting oil.

Helichrysum is the only essential oil found to have in it di-ketones, which help with healing and scar reduction.

What does helichrysum essential oil smell like?

A honey-like, sweet fragrance.

Which part of the plant provides the oil?

The flowers.

How is helichrysum essential oil extracted?

How can I benefit from helichrysum essential oil?

Here are some ways you can benefit from helichrysum essential oil:

  1. Skincare: Helichrysum oil is often used in skincare products due to its potential anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and regenerative properties. It may help reduce the appearance of scars, blemishes, and wrinkles. You can dilute a few drops of helichrysum oil with a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil and apply it topically to your skin.
  2. Wound healing: Helichrysum oil may support wound healing due to its reported antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be applied topically to minor cuts, burns, and bruises after diluting it with a carrier oil.
  3. Pain relief: The analgesic properties of helichrysum oil make it potentially beneficial for managing pain and inflammation. You can apply a diluted solution to areas of discomfort or use it in massage blends for a soothing effect.
  4. Respiratory support: Helichrysum oil may help alleviate respiratory issues such as coughs, colds, and sinus congestion. You can diffuse the oil or create a steam inhalation by adding a few drops to a bowl of hot water and inhaling the steam (with caution to avoid burns).
  5. Emotional well-being: Helichrysum oil is believed to have calming and uplifting properties that can promote emotional well-being. Diffusing the oil or using it in aromatherapy practices may help reduce stress, anxiety, and promote relaxation.

Big benefit with obstinate skin lesions and scars.

    Donal (verified owner)

Bearing in mind i am a sample of one: I found a few drops of helichrysum mixed with a drop of bio-oil completely cleared an obstinate slightly crusty (fungal?) overgrowth on one cheek after a couple of weeks of daily use. It has also been very effective in diminishing or removing some seemingly permanent abrasion scars on my forehead.
