Neroli Essential Oil
Botanical name: Citrus aurantium
Neroli Essential Oil is steam distilled from the delicate blossoms of Citrus aurantium, the bitter orange tree. Also known as Orange Blossom Oil, neroli has been treasured for centuries for its exquisite floral fragrance and remains one of the most valued essential oils in natural perfumery.
The oil takes its name from Anna Maria de La Trémoille, Princess of Nerola, who popularised its use in 17th century Italy by perfuming her gloves, bath water, and clothing with the fragrant blossoms. Long before then, orange blossom had already been used throughout the Mediterranean and Middle East in aromatic waters, skincare preparations, and ceremonial traditions.
This particular Neroli Essential Oil is sourced from India and extracted by steam distillation from freshly harvested blossoms.

Good to know
- Neroli is distilled from orange blossoms, not the fruit.
- It is one of the most valuable floral essential oils due to the large number of blossoms required for production.

- Neroli forms an excellent bridge between floral, citrus, and woody aromatic blends.
Safety
Always dilute before topical use. Neroli Essential Oil is generally considered gentle on the skin and is not regarded as phototoxic because it is steam distilled from the blossoms rather than expressed from citrus peel. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes, and perform a patch test before use on sensitive skin.
